Orange Beef
Ingredients
- 1 flank steak (about 1.5 pounds)
- 2 tsp grated orange zest
- 1/2 cup juice of orange
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp Asian chili-garlic sauce
- 2 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 4 tsp vegetable oil
- 2 scallions, sliced thin
Instructions
- Cut flank stead lengthwise into 3 long strips, then cut each strip crosswise against grain into thin slices.
- Whisk orange zest, orange juice, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, chili-garlic sauce, ginger, and cornstarch in a bowl.
- Heat 2 teaspoons oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until just smoking. Cook half of steak until browned, about 1 minute per side. Transfer to bowl and repeat with remaining oil and steak.
- Add orange mixture to empty skillet. Cook over medium heat, scraping any browned bits, until thickened, 2-3 minutes. Add steak, along with any accumulated juices, and toss to coat. Sprinkle with scallions.
*Gluten free if using a GF soy sauce.
